Why do narcissist move on so easily?

Do you stay in the theater long after the movie ends, or sit on a stopped train when everyone else has left?
Or keep holding onto a banana peel all day after you’ve eaten the fruit?
No, you don’t. You got what you wanted, and you move on. There are plenty of other things you still want, and you know you won’t find them all in one place.
How do you leave a relationship when you are still in love?
You might have been their practice partner for a skill they wanted to learn, a place to crash while they figured out their next step, or someone attractive to show off in front of their ex. Whatever it was, the ride is over.
All the sweet, long-term promises were just to keep you quiet. The narcissist had a shallow, specific goal in mind, and it had nothing to do with love or idealization. Those were just illusions.
